These Quick Release outhaul systems use a large loop on the end of the primary line that hooks over the end of the boom as the release mechanism. Systems are available with a choice of Harken, Ronstan and Allen blocks. If you are in any doubt as to which system/option is right for you please refer to our Ordering Guide page which will take you through the system types and options available.

There are three configurations of outhaul system based around where you want the 'floating' block to be. These configurations are 'top of boom' which is the most popular, 'side of boom' and 'front of boom'. Each has its own merits and if you are unclear which is best for you we suggest that you use 'top of boom'. This article explains more about the pros/cons of each type. All our systems are supplied with full colour installation instructions.

Start by selecting the block type for your outhaul system and use the drop down menus to select primary colour and secondary line type, colour and length. We now include Robline Polytech as a premium secondary line. Options are available further down this page to optimise your system for the ILCA4 (4.7) rig, and to complete your system by adding an elastic system (we recommend our double puller), clew strap and appropriate clew block if you don't already have one.

Top Of Boom

The most popular configuration as calibration is easily visible on both tacks.

Side of Boom

The side of boom configuration keeps the primary and elastic out of the way of the of the sail. Calibration only visible on one tack.

Front of Boom

Uses a double block strop at the gooseneck and a longer primary line.

Complete your Quick Release Outhaul System with these Options and Add-Ons

To complete you quick release outhaul system, if you haven't already got them you will need an elastic, clew strap and clew block. You can also choose to have your system optimised for the ILCA4 (4.7) rig. if you are using a small (18/20mm) clew block we recommend adding a Teaser Line as this makes threading the large loop through the block much easier.

Our recommended elastic system is our signature 'double puller'. This system which comprises an elastic with an associated dogbone that is spliced into the primary line makes a big difference. This video from Team GBR sailor Micky Beckett explains more about this system.

The clew blocks below are ideal for use with the quick release outhaul system. These clew block are 'permanently attached' to the sail and are only removed from the sail when you want to re-use the clew block on another sail.

Extenders for ILCA 4 (4.7)

These extenders are useful where you want the ability to change sails, for example from an ILCA 6 (Radial) to the ILCA 4 (4.7) without having to change the whole outhaul system. Whilst your outhaul system can be built with a longer primary line to suit an ILCA 4 (4.7) rig, these clew blocks with extender strops allow you to adapt a quick release outhaul system built for a ILCA 6/7 (Radial/Standard) rig so that you can also use it with an ILCA 4 (4.7) sail.
